Our great city owns and operates 10 historic homes & museums. I have never been to any! So today for my New Year’s Resolution I visited Spadina House & Museum, which I regularly bike by but have always been too indifferent and lazy to actually check out. Whoa momma this one is a treat! It is amazing. I really like to read Veranda magazine because it’s all that super fancy super over the top stuff that the super rich seem to like. Well, this house was like a real instance of Veranda magazine. There were orange birds on the wallpaper, rooms dripping with plants, billiard felt green paint, crowded shelves with mismatched china objects. It was gorgeous. And so stimulating. If you are in or live in Toronto, I give this two thumbs up and five gold stars for a recommendation of a chill, inexpensive thing to do.
